This may be the catchiest, most enjoyable collection of music that's ever appeared here on Video Pop. That's saying a lot.
Manzur and Peter (aka Futurecop!) sent me another fantastic mixtape, and this one is absolutely jam-packed with moments of pop bliss!
They've incorporated some of the highest quality baltimore club and nu-disco/electro pop in this one, as well as some Futurecop! originals ("Eyes Like the Ocean" and "Space Thieves.") All around solid stuff.
At only 26 minutes, Euromixtape October 2008 is also very concise. I really like mixes that are under half an hour because the DJ is forced to make good decisions, get rid of any filler, and make something special happen from the start. If that was the goal with this mix, they definitely succeeded.
As I told them, several of the tracks in this mix have been slated to appear on Video Pop for some time now, so I'll post a bunch of them here so you can enjoy them on their own.

BONUS: I'm posting this Cryptonites remix of Futurecop!'s "NASA" to make this a true orgy of pop bliss.
TRACKS FROM THE MIXTAPE:
Yo Majesty - Kryptonite Pussy (UMYO Remix)
UMYO's fantastic bmore pop remix of Yo Majesty's raunchy romp "Kryptonite Pussy." Perfect integration of Prince samples.
Bounce Camp - Big Dancin
Yet another baltimore banger, courtesy of Bounce Camp. Starts out like a more traditional bmore track, then segues into the new slammin' pop style that's become so popular.
Adeyhawke - To Me
Adeyhawke's refix of Madonna's "Into the Groove." Very nice stuff. I really think an entire compilation could be made of people's remixes/reinterpretations of that song. Even non-dance versions would be sweet. (That Sonic Youth version, "Into The Groovey," still blows my mind.) Who knows, maybe I'll curate something.
College - Teenage Color (Maethelvin Remix)
Yet another high-quality rework of College's new classic "Teenage Color," this time courtesy of Valerie co-star Maethelvin. Great atmospheric pop.
Vega - All Too Vivid
This last one from Vega is the only nu/futuredisco hit with vocals (aside from Pnau's "Embrace") that legitimately sounds like an 80s Italo disco track. It's got the samples and the synths, the pop hook, and the most difficult feature to recreate - the smooth vocals singing sensual lyrics about love in the city. If there was a contest for trying to recreate the sound of 80s music, this would get a 10 out of 10 and blow just about every competitor out of the water. The authenticity of its production is unbelievable.
Enjoy, and Happy Friday!
