Futurecop! Will Save Pop Music!

It's taken me way too long to do a post about Futurecop! here at Video Pop, but the time has finally come.

If you've been paying attention to the blogs, I'm sure you've heard of them. Along with the guys from Valerie, Manzur Iqbal and Peter Carrol of Futurecop! are here to save pop music. Their songs have heart. Intentionally written to evoke the synth pop that pervaded the teen movies of the 80s, sincere emotions and pretty melodies are at the core of their productions. They embody everything Video Pop stands for!

Now, in preparation for their upcoming EP release on Bright Lights Big City, they've just released a killer mix of 80s pop hits along with a couple of their own tracks interspersed ("Tonight's Hero," which I believe used to be called "It Came From Earth," and "Transformers"). Futurecop!'s We Are the Future Mix, is a whole lot of fun and is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

Impressively, for being on the same mix as 80s heavyweights Madonna, Phil Collins, Kenny Loggins, and Bruce Hornsby (a personal favorite), I actually think the Futurecop! tracks are the catchiest of all. And don't think I'm biased just because Futurecop! is an occasional contributor to Video Pop. I was a fan long before they took on posting duties over here!

By the way, be sure to check out a new video interview with Futurecop! during their recent Australian tour: Interview w/ Futurecop! @ Blip.tv
