
Built To Spill is another band I haven't listened to in awhile, but when you're reaching for the 90's indie guitar pop, they're right up there with GBV, YLT, & PVMT.
I saw them live in the early noughts, and Doug Martsch both sounds and acts like a jovial 11 year-old boy. He even did the awkward, floppy-handed wave and high-pitched "Thanks for coming, guys!" that you would expect from the top student at a 6th grade science fair.
I think his child-like demeanor is why he always has a beard. He's probably tired of being pegged as a prepubescent boy. Here's a picture of him without it:

Actually, he looks like John Cusask as Lloyd Dobler.
